Amatras Rhiannon - "Rhia" - 6 weeks - all rights reserved.

Rhia (Wistwin Adonis x Ailea Moonstone, whelped 06/17/06), was born along with a littermate sister, Kali, and brother, Raiden. The litter was co-bred between Ailea and Amatras Shelties, for a bitch who just might - maybe - possess the things we feel Onyx lacks. The resulting litter proved more beautiful than we could have hoped, and young Ms. Rhia is in Florida at Amatras Shelties growing up and being spoiled and becoming just plain rotten!

Amatras Rhiannon - "Rhia" - 6 weeks - all rights reserved. The candid images above and at left were taken of little Rhia when she was but six weeks old, as I prepared to gather the litter and take them home. They had been with my friend, Liz, of Jubilee Shelties, who whelped and raised to that point (THANK YOU LIZ!!!) after having lived through a somewhat harrowing week searching for an escaped Onyx just two weeks before the litter was due to whelp. A story of the ordeal searching for Onyx is told in my Reading Room - Help! My Sheltie Ran Away!!

While the litter was growing into two weeks, four weeks, six weeks, and on, it was clear both bitches held a great deal of promise, and it appeared choosing between them might not be such an easy Amatras Rhiannon "Rhia" - 8 weeks - all rights reserved.thing as it usually is, when picking pick puppy or pick bitch from a litter of puppies.

Turned out, it WAS a tough pick between the two bitches at eight weeks, since they each exhibited very desirable qualities, but on the day pick bitch was chosen there was no doubt, Rhia was a much nicer prospect for a show bitch, and so was scooped up, cuddled close, and flown back to Florida a couple of days later.

Amatras Rhiannon "Rhia" - 8 weeks - all rights reserved. When the litter was eight weeks old, Angel Maria of Amatras flew in to go over all three puppies and make a determination as to who qualified for pick. Hands down it was Rhia, and soon enough she was Florida bound.

The images above right and at the left are of the beautiful Rhia at eight weeks. It is very easy to see why this girl was pick over her littermate sister!

Thank you again Liz, and thanks, Angel, for taking Rhia- There is nothing but a bright future before her, I'm thinking!
