~
Raiden's call name is derived from Japanese and means "thunder and lightening" - a reference to his dam, Onyx, wandering the woods during a week of summer thunder storms. His "official" name obviously relates to Onyx being found and returned, a most glorious reunion! :-) The litter included this beautiful little boy (photos taken here are at six weeks of age), and two littermate sisters - Ailea Calypso "Kali", a beautiful pet placed in an awesome home in Mebane, North Carolina, and Amatras Rhiannon "Rhia" who lives with my litter co-breeder on the Gulf coast of Florida where she will grow and train and play and become what we hope will be a beautiful, memorable sheltie bitch.
His temperament is even and solid. He is most inquisitive and little phases him. He has the most awesome face and beautiful expression, and uses his ears like few of my shelties ever have. His movement, even at this young and immature age, is fluid in motion. This guy was by far pick puppy, but looking for a bitch, my pick puppy - Raiden's sister "Rhia" - wound up in Florida and Raiden remains here.
I am excited to report Raiden has found his forever home. Nana Janet visited this past week, and has carried Raiden home with her, where he will be loved and spoiled as every sheltie should. We're not sure at this point what Raiden's future holds in store for him, but we do both expect he will find himself in the show ring, when the time is right. Oh, I love this Little Man!
He and our granddaughter, Hannah, were inseparable, the Best of Buds. Hannah loves the puppy to bits - "Puh-PEE!" and they engaged in endless games of chase - Hannah chasing Raiden, and he chasing her, all around the living room, the kitchen table - ANYwhere they could find enough room for running. Hannah squeals and Raiden barks, making it very clear they are each enjoying the game.
The photograph immediately above, and at right, are perfect portraits of Hannah, the granddaughter two years old this September 20, and Raiden, at 12 weeks of age. Hannah wraps her arms around this puppy and hauls him about the house like a rag doll, and he tolerates any- and everything she does to him! I ever watchful, of course, and careful she does not hurt him, but for the most part Hannah is careful to not hurt the puppy, and clearly does understand that pulling on Puh-Pee's tail and ears are big NO-NO's. I am sure Nana Janet will find Raiden is perfectly adjusted to playing with HER grandchildren when they visit!
THANK YOU Nana Janet! I look forward to
keeping up with you and my Little Man! Back to Ailea's Available Page
