~ Ailea's Open Letter ~

Written July 1, 2002, revised July 12, 2006

If you, or someone you know, has acquired a sheltie from Ailea Shelties or Ailea's Place, you are invited to read and share the following information with appropriate parties involved. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please feel free to contact Amy.

Dear Ailea Companion Home:

I write at this time to inform you I have had to stop actively breeding shelties. A serious childhood allergy to dogs has decided to reoccur, causing me critical allergen overload. This, in addition to other health issues I deal with these days including a compromised respiratory system and heart disease, has proven too much. In the allergy department, one thing over which I had control - dog numbers - had to be reconciled. As a result, no more litters, and no more than two or three dogs at Ailea's Place at one time. Ongoing desensitization therapy (allergy shots) may turn things around for me at some point, but this leaves me too ambiguous a future and so, at this time, I am officially no longer actively breeding shelties.

I pray this finds you, and any Ailea sheltie(s) you may have, doing well, and I wish to assure you that should anything arise about which you have any questions or concerns, I am still here for you, will continue to be here for you, and welcome you contacting me about anything, at any time. Though I cannot readily replace your sheltie with another, compensation could and would most assuredly be made in the event anything arises that is covered under any various warranties made where your sheltie(s) are concerned. If you have any question about those warranties, please refer to the contract into which you entered with me at the time you purchased your Ailea Sheltie. Compensation for covered issues will always remain my outstanding debt to you. There may also be an outside chance that someone "out there" who is and has been assisting me in maintaining my Ailea lines may have a puppy available, for your consideration, at that time.

With all best wishes to you and yours
and gentle sheltie hugs all 'round,
Amy Butcher, Ailea Shelties, Ailea's Place
