Amazing Grace ~
~ "Gracie" ~

Gracie (Emerald's Stocks and Bonds x
Ailea Moonstone, 01/09/02), litter sister to
Emilu
and
Token, found her
forever home with a wonderful couple who live in Concord, North Carolina. A
very much-loved and
heavily spoiled sheltie girl, Gracie also shares her new
human family with a family of ferret cousins who I am sure she found to be quite
interesting, indeed! And, additionally, Gracie has even inspired her Mama and
Daddy to adopt a Sheltie rescue as a companion for her, which has worked out
very well!
Pictured here at right, Gracie is 3 weeks old and a very cute baby with a huge
yawn. She was very cute from the day she arrived at Ailea's Place, and proved to
be as full of mischief as any sheltie puppy I had ever known. A beautiful girl
all grown up, Gracie was the perfect puppy going into the perfect placement.
Pictured
left at about 10 weeks, Gracie was Shadow-Kitty's play toy for long
enough that
Gracie convinced Shadow she, too, was a Sheltie and not a cat! Here, she looks
as though she is contemplating a serious pounce, and I am certain the intended
victim was none other than Shadow-Kitty-Puppy-Girl! Since Shadow was an older
kitten not yet fully grown, she and Gracie were great friends playing with each
other around and through the house. Shadow even learned to walk the tight-rope,
walking along the top edge of the opened puppy playpen, doing a perfect
balancing act while remaining just out of reach of the puppies' reaching noses
and paws.
Gracie
and her Mama Greta are enjoying obedience. Pictured at right with Greta at about
17
weeks, Gracie graduated her beginning and advanced obedience classes with high honors,
and has also passed her Therapy Dog International (TDI) aptitude test! I'm
excited and pleased to report that Greta and
Gracie have finally gotten their feet wet doing a little bit of therapy work.
They have begun visiting an assisted-living home near Concord, NC, visiting the
old folks and spreading a little sheltie love. It seems they are both enjoying
the experience immensely, and plan soon to work toward doing therapy in
hospitals and nursing homes as well.
Pictured
at left with her "brother" Bud, Gracie is all grown up now and doing
very well! Many many thanks to Greta and Harry for doing such a great job
with Gracie, and thanks, too, for adopting Bud from
Triangle
Sheltie Rescue, and for just, well, being a great home all around!
I hear lately Greta is entertaining thoughts of
competing in obedience (and maybe agility in the
future), since Gracie is doing
SO well in class, and Mama Greta is enjoying every minute of the training! This
is surely a match made in Heaven!
We
missed this little girl at Ailea's Place, as she possesses one of those
extremely winning personalities, and is just as cute as she can be. Had Greta
and Harry decided against taking her, we had decided she could just stay, while
we didn't look so hard to find her a home. ;-) As it is, we are all very happy
Gracie has gone to live with them!
Pictured above right is a HAPPY Gracie enjoying the great snow we received in
Carolina back in February, 2004. Won't you agree, she is just lovely?
