~ Fun and Miscellany ~
The following collection of photographs include candid photos
from home that were fun in the taking. Some are silly, while others are
something else entirely. I hope you enjoy!

In-between
our two snowfalls, January 2001, we happened to discover a new species of horned
animal. Just by chance of luck a photograph of this creature was taken, and is
shown at right. It is unknown at this time if there are others of these
creatures, and/or if a hunting season for these things may be in the making.
Will keep you updated as we learn more...

This
frightening visage was a common sight in January, as the search for the
unknown, newly discovered horned creature was undertaken. Dressed for warmth
(there WAS eventually 18 inches of snow on the ground!), this fearless hunter
could be seen stalking the woodlands and wetlands in the area, we presume to
catch wind of the trail of the mysterious creature. What dedication! |

Is
THIS a sight or what? YES, this is Sarah. YES, there is 16 to 20 inches of snow
on the deck. YES, she is standing in her PAJAMAS with her daddy's work boots on,
outside, in the snow and cold! She's out there to get dog food (the broom
to brush off the can), but I promise, NO ONE told her she could not get dressed
or put on a coat to do so! This was her doing and her doing alone.
Mama's
daughter????? |

Awhile back we
kept a few chickens - a rooster and 8 hens. Fresh eggs are great, but
the chickens lasted only about a year before we finally tired of
fighting the rooster while attempting to feed the chickens and collect eggs... He was one mean sucker!
Gave 'em all away to a family with a small farm, where they or their progeny still live,
as far as we know.
About half grown, these are Dominique, or
black-barred chickens. At left is a hen, and at right a rooster.

A
really great shot of Sarah and her Daddy at left, having a little bit of fun at home. These
two are peas in a pod, and have great fun aggravating each other to the point of
distraction. Sarah, of course, is just beside herself to think Mom has uploaded
this to the internet for the whole world to see... :-) :-) :-)
I love my family!!! |

Will
you look at these silly, silly dogs? Three of them, from my face
forward: Willie, Dawn
and Sookie
piled on at the same time, each trying to get closest to me. If there had been room - trust me - Rookie and Taylor would have piled on as well! This was taken by my sister following my heart
attack in November, 1999. And these silly dogs were my very best medicine at the
time!

My beautiful daughter trying
to block me from taking a picture of her while we were out boating on
the lake. I think she was afraid of breaking the camera, but just
between you and me I'm betting her fears should have been more along the
line of maybe the camera might break her face, so blocking the pic was a
good thing, I'm guessing... |
|
And of course
she thought she would get her Mama (moi) back by taking a picture of ME
while we were out boating that day... Only this one backfired on her
when I took the prime opportunity to show the world my very bestest side
in the whole wide wunnerful werld. Ain't I a beaut?

My son, Anthony, trying to
sneak up behind me to give me a fright GOTCHA! ... one of his favorite
things to do, so long as he's doing it to his mother or his sister. Put
the shoe on the other foot though, and guess who gets REVENGE when you
get him... Anthony! Yeah, some of us are still better givers than
receivers! |

Ahhh, Shadow
Kitty.
Shadow was a
young kitten yet when a litter of puppies came along. Though she pretty
much ignored the pups until they started moving around, once they began
to move around Shadow visited them regularly by walking along the
topside edge of the puppy playpen, as seen here. If not for being able
to balance like this I swear she thought she was a puppy herself! |

Yeppers, this is a
copperhead... a very DEAD copperhead!
The story goes, before we moved
into the new place we lived in an old cabin down the road about a half
mile, for years with a nearly 10-foot long black snake as an occasional
house guest. The late summer before we moved the black snake was killed
on the road. That next summer, our last in the cabin, we had to deal
with over a half-dozen adult copperheads and countless babies.
Who said a black snake isn't
worth his weight? |
