Aubrey's Lord of Exchequer
"Checkers Warren"

Born May 17, 1987,
laid to rest September 9, 1999

Checkers left behind two little
non-related sheltie siblings:
Ginger, 5 years, and Duncan, 9 months,
as well as several broken human hearts.
He was a wonderful friend
and will be missed forever!

With love from the Warren Family

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said, "It's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you every day
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled; I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
And say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

Nancy Warren adds:
It's hard to come up with the words, in a nutshell, to sum up 12 years of a magnificent dog's life: He was a son, a guardian, a clown, a brother, a herder of toddlers, a chaser of birds and butterflies, a chewer of woodwork, a great lover of any kind of food, a consumer of homework, a player of games, a comforter of sadness, a warmer of cold feet, but most of all, he was the best of best friends who will be missed forever.

Sorry. I still can't write about him without crying: He was ultimately a breaker of hearts.

Ch Royl Easy Money
"Easy"

November 14, 1989 - January 8, 1998

Spindrift's Misti Mornin CD
"Misti"

Lobo Dell Autumn Splendor x Elf Dale Licorice Candy

January 21, 1979 - October 9, 1986

As my first Sheltie, Misti taught me the incredible joy and love
this breed can bring to their owners. Her life was much too short
and I still miss my little punkin'.

Von Ri Summer Snow, CD
"Summer"

June 22, 1986 - March 15, 1999

In a field of blue bonnets
A flash of silver and snow
Chased by black, red gold, silver and white
Chases a blue butterfly
NO pain, no stiffness, never tired, no anxiety
No lost moments
SEIZURE FREE
pain free, agile, boundless energy, total happiness
Touches a blue butterfly
Chasing black, red gold, silver and white
A flash of silver and snow
In a field of blue bonnets

The seizures are ended. The endless circling that heralded the end has stopped. Summer packed her bags Sunday night, March 14, 1999, went to the airport to wait Monday morning. The plane finally left for the Rainbow Bridge Monday afternoon at 1:15. She had a safe trip! A host of Sheltie family friends, and acquaintances were there to meet her when she arrived. They traded warm greetings, news & love as they left the terminal.

Goodnight Sweet Prince,
and flights of Angels
sing thee to thy rest.

You are such a very special Sheltie boy. I raised you from birth. We were inseparable. I finished your championship, and then you went everywhere with me. I miss you more than words can ever relate. Our dog hobby will never be the same. You were my joy in life.

You were Angie's first experience in junior showmanship. You taught her everything she needed to know. You accompanied her to Westminster even though judges don't look at Shelties, you stood out and showed your heart out for Angie!

You were wonderful, precious, friend. You deserved to live longer than 10 years. Years have now gone by and I still feel the terrible loss.

I will never forget you "JJ". I love you!

"Amico"

As remembered by Esther Knapp

On February 14, 1994 I got my first Sheltie - an 11-week old puppy I named Amico. His name was Italian for "friend," which was exactly what he was. Amico and I became best buddies and sweethearts. I took him all kinds of places - work, children's choir practice, camping, voice lessons, everywhere! We did beginning obedience together and he got the top mark in his "graduating class." I was so proud! He was no conformation champion, but he was most certainly the champion of my heart.

Amico would have made a great therapy dog. I had a human friend who suffered from Multiple Personality Disorder. Several of her personalities were children of varying ages. Amico sensed all by himself when she would "switch" personalities, and would reach appropriately to each one - playing boisterously with a 12-yr-old, then lying quietly by the side of a shy 4-yr-old. He also taught an aging, lonely Alaskan Malamute how to play again.

But our time together was very short. He died suddenly at 2 years of age from intestinal torsion - something very rare for Shelties. I was devastated to lose him. We were kindred spirits. But I know that I'll see him again someday, and it is because of him that I am totally devoted to the Sheltie breed today.

Thank you, Amico. You were the perfect companion and friend.
