An open letter to all visitors:

This place is a Sheltie place. It is borne, created and maintained by a love for all beings and things Sheltie. This place is a standing memorial to those we have loved and lost with the passage of Time and is a tribute to those Sheltie Angels which have touched our lives.

Sheltie Angels Among Us began in 1999 following a tragic van fire and the resultant loss of more than a dozen show shelties and other show dogs. The Sheltie community rallied, coming up with a "Sheltie tribute page" where a great outpouring of love could be gathered to remember and honor the Shelties we have loved so dearly and lost.

Since that terrible time this website has grown into one of the most inspired and inspiring Rainbow Bridge tribute pages on the web. It has been my privilege to help create and maintain these pages since inception, and I am ever and always awed by each and every contribution I receive.

Anyone is welcome to contribute to these pages - there is only one requirement for inclusion - the Angel you wish to include must be a Sheltie, or a Sheltie person. Simply e-mail me, Amy, with your memorial and I will upload. There is a link to my e-mail on every page of this site.

Sheltie Angels Among Us is a place of healing and celebration. The love that is closely woven into every word and phrase in these pages has the strength to move mountains. I believe the participants - those who have chosen to share their Sheltie Angels with the world - are most courageous souls. The rest of us - myself included - are forever indebted.

Warning: These pages are emotionally healing and may well prompt tears. You may wish to have a box of Kleenex handy before embarking on this most wondrous of journeys.

It is truly my treasure to be able to provide the small service of these pages.

Thank-you, everyone, for sharing, and peace to all.

And please, let us begin-

The Rainbow Bridge Story

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
