Welcome

to
Sheltie Angels Among Us

A tribute compilation to honor
the many great and wonderful memories

An Open Letter to all visitors:

This place is a Sheltie place. It is borne, created and maintained by a love for all beings and things "Sheltie." This place is a standing memorial to those we have loved and lost with the passage of Time, and is a tribute to those Sheltie Angels which have touched our lives.

Anyone is welcome to contribute to these pages. The only criteria for inclusion is that your Angel be a Sheltie or a Sheltie person. Simply send me e-mail (a link appears at the bottom of every page), and I shall get the work done as soon as I am able.

The thoughts and images on these pages are not just therapy for those who have lost a Sheltie and have chosen to contribute. You might be surprised at those I hear from who do not have the courage to post something so publicly; yet everyone who visits (even those who have not had such a loss) is benefited, period. So Sheltie Angels Among Us is a catharsis for loss and I do believe the participants - those who have chosen to share their Angels with the world - are most courageous souls. The rest of us (myself included) are deeply and forever in their debt

Warning: These pages are emotionally healing
and may well prompt tears.
You may wish to have a box of Kleenex handy
before embarking on this most wondrous of journeys.

It is truly my treasure to be able to provide the small service of building and maintaining these pages.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing, and peace to all.

The Rainbow Bridge

"Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends where they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

"All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: They each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

"They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyful reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hand again caresses the beloved head and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never from your heart. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together... "

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Note from Amy:
While visiting another web site one day I came across a link to 'Rainbow Bridge'. Out of sheer curiosity I followed this link as I have done so many others, to see and read about the love and loss, those things so closely mirroring my own, in the experience of the loss of a beloved pet. The place to which I was whisked when I followed this link left me speechless and dumbfounded. I wrote the author of this site for permission to include a link to this Rainbow Bridge page here, in the pages of Sheltie Angels Among Us. This is what I wrote her, in part: "I am struck dumb at the beauty and depth of emotion I found watching your [Rainbow Bridge] creation. I stopped being moved to tears by the Rainbow Bridge poem long ago... Over time I suppose I have become immune... I was wholly unprepared and completely overwhelmed when I... was connected to the beautiful, moving gift you have created... It was while experiencing your [Rainbow Bridge] movie I was once more taken to tears for the Rainbow Bridge as it has been resculpted by you..."

So I invite you, all visitors to these pages, to experience the Rainbow Bridge Movie, as created by Terri Pike. We should all be grateful to her generous permission to share this experience with us here. The movie itself is also beautifully enhanced by the music of Kerry Muzzey. The Rainbow Bridge music is available for purchase, from iTunes or CD Freedom and would be an awesome addition to any musical collection.

Do enjoy this Rainbow Bridge movie (a Kleenex might come in handy), but don't forget to use your browser's "back" button to return to Sheltie Angels Among Us, since this page is off-site and does not link back to Sheltie Angels Among Us.

NOTICE: If you cannot find your Sheltie Angel, and/or think your Angel has been lost, please see the Reformat Note

I am pleased to display the Sheltie Angel Award, which was awarded this site in December, 1999.

Thank-you, Marie Crane, for the honor, and thank-you EVERYONE, for helping make this site the loving tribute it has become.

"Shelties do not die. They gain their wings and learn to fly."

At the earliest beginning, and for some time, Sheltie Angels Among Us resided on the free GeoCities web server (now Yahoo!GeoCities). While there, Sheltie Angels Among Us received this award (right). To me, it was recognition of all the love and dedication of those who have loved and lost their own Sheltie Angels, and was a culmination of all our efforts in putting this site together, and keeping it growing.
